Curitiba
Intro
Located south of Sao Paolo, Curitiba is a well-established city offering some of
the best travel experiences Brazil has to offer. Over 2 million people call
Curitiba home. Some of the best transportation systems, cleanest beaches and
Gorgeous European-looking garotas can be found in this lovely southern Brazilian
city. Even though it does not compare in terms of night life and women to its
larger counterparts- Rio and Sao Paolo, Curitiba has plenty to offer those who happen to pass through this southern city.
History
Founded in 1693 as a gold mining camp, Curitiba was of little importance until
1853 when it was made capital of Parana. Since then, the city’s population has
steadily risen from a few thousand to a few million. It is said that Curitiba is
barely a Brazilian city at all. Most of the inhabitants are descendants of
Polish, German, Italian and other European immigrants who settled in the city
and in its surrounding villages.
Curitibanos
Most curitibanos heavily resemble eastern europeans due to their ancestry. If
your preference tends to lean more towards the lithe blondes than the
full-bodied mulatas and morenas found in Rio, then Curitiba is definitely the place for you. The exotic nature of these incredible beauties is something you have to experience for
yourself. No doubt that some of the most beautiful women in Brazil come from Curitiba.
Exotic Nightlife
Curitiba’s nightlife ranges from decent to incredible but due to the smaller
size of the city, expect to do a lot more digging than you might be used
to. This is not a city supported by tourism, so there aren’t elaborate sex palaces or termas or any sort here. But Curitiba’s sex scene is active, you just have to know where to look.
Weather
Unlike Rio and Sao Paolo, Curitiba is much colder and wetter. From the months of
April to September, be prepared to bring cold weather clothes such as; jackets,
sweaters, boots and gloves. It can snow since Curitiba is on an altitude of 900
meters and is about an hour ride away from the beach. It does warm up in the
summer months, but not nearly as much as it does in Rio or Sao Paolo but don’t
fret, the cooler weather is definitely refreshing.
Eateries
Given Curitiba’s prosperity and its inhabitants’ diverse ethnic backgrounds, it
comes as no surprise that some of the best restaurants in Brazil are located in
Curitiba. Some of the best Italian, German and Japanese restaurants can be found
here as well as the traditional Brazilian fare. You’ll have more than your share
of places to eat and all for a reasonable price. Everything in Curitiba will
cost you considerably less than Rio or Sao Paolo.
Hotels
As always we recommend the Parthenon flats for great rates, liberal policies regarding guests, top notch accommodations (the rooms are spacy like small apartments) and centralized locations.
But you can find great deals on some of Curitiba’s best hotels. From first rate to
economic, there are a wide range of hotels, all made to fit in your budget.
